“Blink” Inspiration: Leighton House

While we’re on an inspirational tip, I’ve been looking through all the tears and articles I’ve stashed as reminders of things I really must do, see and visit. One of them is for something that is really just on my doorstep, so there is no excuse…

The Leighton House Museum, in Holland Park, is the former home and studio of the Victorian painter and draughtsman, Lord Frederic Leighton. He traveled extensively, and in the Victorian tradition, collected as he went. Leighton perhaps went a little further than most as shown in the amazing ‘Arab Hall’ which is smothered with a heady combination of incredible Islamic art, tiles and decoration. Until September, there is also a one of the world’s finest private collections of Pre-Raphaelite and Victorian art being exhibited at Leighton House, so that’s another fantastic reason to visit soon.
