The Teatum Jones collection is always a LFW highlight for us. For AW’15 they delivered yet another inspired collection, intensely studied and crafted from fabrics developed specifically by Teatum Jones to reflect their highly singular vision of womenswear. This design duo have yet again delivered a fresh, innovative and exciting look that continues their fascination with structure, texture, pattern and contrast, creating clothes that look extremely beautiful but tend to have been inspired by a deeper, darker, murkier story than you would guess on first view.
The artfully coal dusted look of the makeup gave a little away of the root inspiration behind this collection, where Teatum Jones took a trip up North and back in time, bringing together the tough and troubled times of the 80’s miners strikes blended with a very domestic feel from that era- cue pattern inspired by homely gingham and herringbone patterns. This reference was all wrapped up with a massive blast of Northern Soul, bringing with it that rootsiness, honesty and abandon that’s central to this classic music scene. Now those images of Gloria Jones on the mood board teaser we shared with you make utter sense!
Here’s a video of the full show, and some of our favourite looks from the collection (images with thanks to Vogue.co.uk).
Huge congratulations to Rob and Catherine from all of us at Blink London.
