We like to make sure we’re up to speed with what’s happening in all the hot spots around London town, and one of the hottest, hot spots has to be the Dalston stretch of Stoke Newington Road. With some amazing shops, including the vintage mega Mecca that is Beyond Retro, to a constantly increasing rosta of super hip hang outs. The latest on our ‘love’ list is Ruby’s (at number 76). Open for about four months in the basement of Ruby House, this was our chosen location to celebrate the Olympic torch’s journey through Hackney the other week.
Ruby House is owned by Castle Gibson, a locations and props company, and so they were super set up to create a really great looking bar. It doesn’t feel like a faked front however, this compact and bijou basement bar has a wonderfully authentic vintage feel about it.
As part of the Ruby House ‘location’, they have already been graced with the glamorous presence of Adele and Rihanna, and now the “Blink” team too. We indulged in several of their delicious cocktails, created by the very cute and welcoming bar team, purely in the name of thorough research obviously…
If you’re looking for somewhere cool, but not trying too hard, with great drinks and a relaxed atmosphere, and you’re over East, then Ruby’s tops our recommended list.
