“Blink” Streetstyle: Westfield Celebrates FNO and AW’12

Friday, September 7th, 2012

After ‘Metallics’ and ‘Gothic’, last night at Westfield London, we spotted a couple of great ‘Print’ looks, working a strongly digital, graphic, photo realistic or linear feel. Many of the new crop of brilliant London based Designers have a very strongly print driven handwriting, so it’s great to see this translating in to streetstyle.

“Blink” Retail: Selfridges/ Louis Vuitton/ Yayoi Kusama

Tuesday, September 4th, 2012

Did you read our post about the Louis Vuitton Kusama Concept Store at Selfridges a little while back? I hope you entered the competition!

Louis Vuitton have unveiled an amazing take-over of Selfridges’ windows, as well as turning the Concept Store space into a mini Louis Vuitton store filled with the spotty gorgeousness of their collection created in collaboration with Japanese artist, Yayoi Kusama. This is a super duper spot overload, and we love it… well, most of it. I have to say I was quite disturbed by the lifelike appearance of the life size wax models of Kusama in the corner window installation!

“Blink”Inspiration: Marc Jacobs, Resort ’13

Wednesday, July 18th, 2012

Moving on to the wonder that is Marc Jacobs. The Resort ’13 collection was apparently inspired by Cindy Sherman‘s ‘Clown’ series, and you can really see that in the colour level, proportions and styling, as well as in the way this has been shot. Feeling quite graphically ‘dressing up box’ or costume-like, the bold proportions and energetic textile, pattern and gaudy colour combinations create a really optimistic feeling. I’m sure the execution is so beautiful in real life that any hint of the comic or even dare we say, ugly, would be overwhelmed.

Thanks again to Style.com for the show images.

“Blink” Print: Geometrically

Friday, May 4th, 2012

This week we’ve dropped in a couple of posts on some of the hottest print directions. The ‘reflected’ and photo-realistic directions look incredibly innovative and directional, but it’s nice to also look at one of the print directions that is pretty continuous, just morphing from influence to influence, but essentially always under the banner heading of ‘Geometrics’. Impacted by the textural and artistically hand executed trends recently, and incorporating some brilliantly commercial looks like the till ringer that’s stripes. Here are some of the strongest geometric looks that we spotted in the past week or so.
