I chose the title because there is something about this look that reminds me of the brilliant Lol from Shame Meadow’s ‘This is England’.

Streetstyle: Vintage East

Thursday, October 27th, 2011

We sent Hannah, our intrepid intern, to East London to search out some Winter streetstyle for us. She came back with some wonderful shots, so thank you to y’all for stopping to have your photo taken. There was a really clear overarching theme to the majority of the shots, aside from great outerwear to fend off the chill, which was a vintage feel. I know that this isn’t in any way new news, but the looks are gorgeous regardless. From a wholly adopted era specific statement to snatched elements of a moment in time, this is a guaranteed way to look unique and innovative.

Streetstyle: Maxed Out

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2011

We’ve been spotting some lovely maxi looks over the past couple of weeks, and decided to share some of our favourite streetsyle shots with you today. Its a direction that has become a bit of a high summer classic, but we can see some innovation in here too. The move from the maxi dress to the importance of the maxi skirt has been one well documented in all the fashion mags from the start of Spring. Building on that direction, we also love the amazing concertina pleated ‘divided skirt’ or mega flares from Topshop. Midi gets a look in too, but the reality of the streetsyle shows that it still has some way to go before it replaces the long time love that is the maxi…

Streetstyle: ‘In Fashion’ Focus, part 2

Tuesday, May 10th, 2011

Following on from yesterday’s post, here’s a couple of more East London lookers for you. Pulling these posts together has really made me wonder what ‘In Fashion’ means to me too. I think it might be more important to be comfortable in your own skin, rocking your own style and expressing your personality, but there is certainly a lot of comfort in looking ‘the part’, keeping up with the prevailing trends and ensuring you don’t stand too far out from the crowd. I suppose that the trick is pulling that off while keeping a lot of your own personality in there too…

Bartek, Brick Lane (thisblogisreserved.com) "I don't care about fashion. I just mix vintage with new. I try not to take myself too seriously. It works- today 4 people asked me if they could take my picture."

Dulia and Benjamin, Brick Lane Dulia: "We don't really think about fashion as such. I think we're trying to have fun with what we wear. Of course we're influenced by trends, but only to a certain extent." Benjamin: "It's funny because I think that subconsciously we always kind of match. Look at your socks and my trousers!"

Streetstyle: Brick Lane

Thursday, April 21st, 2011

Here’s another from Asta’s style spotting outing to East London’s streets. We really like this girl’s look. Its not a little 80’s inspired, but there are some very personal quirks in the look too, from the platform boots to the preppy feel of her specs and satchel style bag. Loving the backdrop too, with some brilliant East End street art just to complete the mood.

Thanks Asta!

Streetstyle: East London Rocking Classics

Wednesday, April 20th, 2011

Asta was out style stalking at the weekend and came back with some great shots from you Shoreditch stylistas as usual. We particularly like the look of these two. Both individually rocking very separate and personal looks, but somehow that makes each look far more interesting. Its far more usual to spot a group all styled quite similarly creating their own mini tribe, and somehow diluting the individuality in the process.

I’m really into the attention to detail in both looks too. Great bleached tips on mac lady, and those tie dyed socks add an extra edge to jeans girl…
