Today we are mixing a bit of fashion in with our Music Monday post. This is the wonderful James Bay and “When we were on Fire”, live at the Burberry Prorsum SS’15 show.
Burberry always choose really interesting new artists to play live at their catwalk shows. I think they outdid themselves this year. He’s one of Blink’s new favourites. This very gifted 23 year old has only released one EP to date, but we think he’s about to go stratospheric with his new single ‘Hold Back the River’ which is being supported by huge industry players both here and in the States.
He’s another in a small, uniquely gifted circle of young male Brit artists who are creating music with pure musicianship, heart and lots of soul. We will be keeping a close eye on any tour dates or show announcements as I bet he will be an absolute treat to see live.

It’s one thing to see a show on Style.com or even to catch the live stream, but it’s quite another to get up close and personal. The SS’14 Burberry collection is a great case in point. Truly loved the show, but oh my have you seen the absolute artistry in the textiles and embellishment, the construction and the finishes? Breathtaking.
The other day I was researching a lecture that I was planning on brands and how they interact with social media. I chose Burberry as my case study because even though they celebrate their heritage and roots at every turn, they are also very possibly the most progressive of luxe labels when it comes to the way they interact using social media, constantly embracing new opportunities and also driving this field forward. I knew pretty much what Burberry had been up to in this field, and then I came across a new initiative that they had introduced at their AW’13 show in February. If you fell hard for any of the new coats or bags shown in that wonderful latex, skin printed and heart filled collection, you could order one (or ten?!) straight from the catwalk, with the additional free option to have your name engraved onto the metal coat tag or on the bag plate. Now that really is a bespoke service.
Aside from the joy of owning a piece of new season Burberry before the rest of the planet, and having it personalized to boot, each of these items will also feature some rather snazzy in-built technology. By passing your smart phone over the product, or by standing in front of special mirrors in the Regent Street store, you will reveal video footage showing your selected style’s journey from inception to production. Amazing.
It may well be gale force winds out there today, but we are fully committed to wearing the new Spring looks. To be honest, they may be proceeded by some thermals and then a little concealed under a really big coat, but the key thing is that we’ll be wearing them! In our dream shopping basket for Spring’12, these are the looks we would be investing in. Care of the wonderful Style.com, we’ve trawled the shows and come up with our most adored looks to share with you, from Giles, Stella, Isabel, Clements Ribeiro, Louis Vuitton and Burberry. In reality, we’ll be buying maybe one or two posh bits, and the rest will be created through the magic of the brilliant British high street…
