“Blink” New Designers: Lily Kamper

Friday, October 17th, 2014

Although Lily Kamper only graduated from the RCA in 2012, she has already established a brand with a confidently embedded aesthetic. This jewellery label is understatedly luxurious, blending transparent and coloured resins and crystal with metal to create symbolic feeling geometric shapes. The crisply sculpted character of her signature pendants seem both utterly modern and equally somehow ancient. For us we think the best description may be ‘a hybrid of rave culture meets new age crystal healer via ancient Egyptian monoliths’. Yeah, you know that old chestnut! Oh, and we LOVE Lily’s nail art too.

As our rather diverse description suggests, Kamper’s work is unique and innovative. We at Blink London are confirmed fans. For the SS’15 collection that we saw at London Fashion Week, she has added in some new elements like this earcuff, showing us how her aesthetic translates brilliantly into finer, smaller pieces.

“Blink” New Designers: LCF BA14 Design and Technology Graduate, Anne Westhoff

Wednesday, July 9th, 2014

The next LCF BA14 graduate collection we are spotlighting is this amazing jewellery from Anne Westhoff.

Combining artfully sculpted sections of wood, complete with bark, and blending that with a resinous material that looked very much like amber, these are a beautiful study in organic texture and mixed materials in an utterly sophisticated and thoughtful way.

“Blink” New Designers: LCF BA14 Design and Technology Graduate, Qian Yang

Tuesday, July 8th, 2014

On from our introductory post, we now start to get into the nitty gritty of some of our favourite collections from the London College of Fashion graduates.

This exhibition was specifically focused on presenting the work of the accessories students, but actually this stunning collection of jewellery could also be considered mini sculpture I suppose. Thoroughly innovative and perfectly executed by Qian Yang.

“Blink” Retail: Arcadia’s AW’14 Press Day- Accessories

Thursday, May 15th, 2014

Some more for you from the Arcadia AW’14 press event. This post is all about some rather lovely jewels, heels, bags and boots that were a particular highlight for me.

Starting things off are these very stylish jewels and stunning extra long, green suede boots from Dorothy Perkins. These were an extra surprise because I generally skip past this label- but I was quite literally stopped in my tracks by the really fabulous selection of accessories. I’ll be making a rare visit to good old DP’s come Autumn to see what will actually make it home with me.

Next comes Freedom at Topshop. Never knowingly understated, this is THE label to hit for statement pieces that are always super hot and brilliantly blingy. This little number looks like wearing it might replace a heavy lifting session at the gym! I love the smokey shade of the gems, adding a touch of sophistication to an otherwise extra OTT number.

Topshop‘s shoes and bags are some of the best on the high street. Reflecting all the hottest Autumn directions and covering all occasions in a really creative and innovative way, the shoes on show at the press day were really exciting. As were the bags. We’re still good to be rocking backpacks come Autumn. Yay!

Finally, we have Miss Selfridge. When they get it right, they really, really get it right, and this is generally it’s embellished, beaded and embroidered womenswear but also with some surprisingly good accessories. I really loved the styling of this blue gemmed style, sitting really beautifully on this blue/grey, high sheen print and pale lilac faux fur. It’s like an Autumn mood board all by itself.

“Blink” Retail: Christmas Wishes

Thursday, November 22nd, 2012

It’s that time of year again… almost! Now, what did that special person in your life hint that they wanted to find under the tree? No idea? Too much mulled wine in your system to remember clearly? Or perhaps you’ve been too distracted by self gifting when you should have been picking up pressies for your friends and family?

Well, what I’ve been subliminally seeding for that past month or so is the fact that pretty much all that I’d like for Christmas can be found at Avenue 32. This is one of my new favourite super stylish shopping sites. These guys carry some really innovative and interesting names that you might not see on other luxe shopping sites. Each designer gets to create their own boutique style space so you can get a really good feel for what they are all about.

Here’s a little peek at a couple of the brands I have got my eye on, by way of a wee wish list. I’m really into the gorgeous accessories from Bex Rox at Avenue 32. Have a look at the whole collection here. Aside from accessories, my other favourite treat is always posh undies, and Myla never disappoints. You can see the whole collection here. Both brilliant British brands, which is an additional bonus.

Soooo, here goes with my top 6 picks- you know, just in case you’re wondering what I’d like for Christmas, and I have a been a very good girl (mostly).

“Blink” retail: Fabergé

Friday, January 27th, 2012

The Fabergé store opened on Grafton Street in November last year, and we have wondered past on many occasions, heading to Dover Street Market and Acne for a fashion fix. Last week, we stopped to have a closer look in the tiny windows of this very purple shop, and we were amazed by the gorgeous displays. Not only were all of the diamonds completely dazzling, it was also the way that the jewellery had been displayed that caught our eye. Don’t you just love all of the stunning, vintage looking dolls house furniture and props that they have used? Oh, and that bracelet in the middle shot. Those are the kind of mini eggs we’d like to get this Easter…
