So, we have already featured lots of great black leather and leather inspired looks this morning. This afternoon, we look at another leather based look, and this one takes things a little tougher…
The favourite option for instantly updating the leather jacket seems to be smothering it in a generous scattering of studs. The more the better! Looking like a great way to drive the now core Biker style forward, but we have also been loving studs on denim and plaid shirts, denim shorts, camo jackets and of course, accessories.

After many, many season’s in the fashion doldrums, black leather and leather inspired looks are now super hot again. Brought back into our style consciousness through the brilliant Biker jacket, and now diversifying into great dresses, skirts, shorts and even the (gulp) leather trouser is looking very, very good again. Here’s some of our favourites shot at retail over the past month or so. From high end to high street, fashion is showing leather a lot of love!

We’re huge fans of Stieg Larsson’s books and can’t wait for the film (mainly due to the undeniable charms of Mr Daniel Craig), and when we received the press release from H&M about their collection inspired by Lisbeth Salander’s punk/ Goth/ Rock chick look, we were more than a little excited.
This collection landed in stores yesterday, 14th December, with slightly less fanfare than the Versace hook up, but we’re quite pleased about that too- less elbow sharpening required… Trish Summerville, the costume designer of the film “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”, designed this collection, so it has a great pedigree. Check out the video. Enjoy!
Here’s another window shot for you from our outing down Sloane Street earlier this week. As we tweeted, many of the high end stores seem to have skipped past Christmas completely and headed straight into Spring by showcasing their resort collections. YSL seem to have partly gone that route, with a window that combines something more Winter appropriate with something super Springy.
To us this looked like a scene from a Bond movie, with one fashionable character karate chopping the other… “Take that, Bikini girl!” Or maybe she’s trying to knock some sense into her, as she’s clearly lost her mind, wearing a beach appropriate look in December in London.

Actually most of this isn’t leatherette, its proper leather- but I just couldn’t resist the title (in reference to one of my all time fav Grace Jones songs in case you’re wondering). London Fashion Week was such an inspirational event this season, and in no small way due to the ultra stylish attendees. If you look back at historical LFW coverage you’ll see that this is the perfect barometer for the trends that are going to come through strongly over the season ahead, so take note and start your shopping list from the directions we’ve highlighted this week.
Leather was a material being backed by the fashion pack, and not only as the ubiquitous Biker jacket (thanks Burberry for keeping that one alive for Autumn). The newest direction in leather, however, is the skirt. From mini skater skirts to minxy pencils and on into midi length, full A lines.

So, day three of the coverage from Distortion and its the last hit of festival streetstyle for now.
Its about great knits today, and a smattering of leather and denim too- well, it wouldn’t be a festival without some cool denim now would it? It is refreshing that the denim isn’t purely about cut offs. The knits are textural and quirky, with a touch of vintage chic- the poncho is both fashionable and functional in Copenhagen this Summer it seems, working very well with a key Copenhagen accessory- the bicycle!

Although its become a tourist trap and the location of some pretty mainstream retailers, there is still something essentially cool about Carnaby Street. Its often a great place to style spot very unique and interesting looks. Maybe this is because it’s close to lots of Soho creative offices and the fact that it’s right by Liberty? Who knows- but the fact is, we like to loiter with our camera at the ready and we generally manage to shoot some interesting streetstyle.
Asta spotted this young lady when out last week. We just love how on first look there is something quite vintage and refined, then on closer inspection her style owes a lot more to a punky and hard edged aesthetic. The vintage jacket has been customized by some hardcore looking studs and spikes. The shorts are leather and the shoes are pretty fierce too. Great hair and a very cool attitude just puts the cherry on this particular cake. Enjoy!

More joy from the inaugural Little London Fields festival for you. We hope that you enjoyed yesterdays look at some great styling details and today we have a look at proportion.
While the whole of the fashion world has been loved up for the maxi this Summer, the festival crowds have all voted with their pins for something more abbreviated. Shorts and mini’s have been a far stronger look, particularly for the London based events. Its a look that can say so many things. Go retro and boyish with the addition of braces (an accessory to watch and one that we’ll be featuring in the Autumn ‘Accessories’ report!). Add chic but saucy sex appeal with long socks or hold ups. Embrace undies as outies with slip inspired looks. Channel something sharper and a little more 80’s with tailored leather.
