Eyeliner: Flicks and cats. The struggle is real

Tuesday, January 26th, 2016

I’ve noticed that I mostly pin amazing eyeliner looks on to my Pinterest Beauty board. I’ve been caught out staring at immaculate eyeliner flicks on strangers as they walk past in the street. I’ve been known to quiz my girlfriends that always pull off incredible, symmetrical cats-eyes as if it isn’t any big deal (Caroline!). I’m obsessed because I am useless as doing this myself. Maybe it’s the shape of my eyes, maybe it’s just my wonky face, maybe it’s useless eye/hand coordination?

I did my research, trying to find the best tool that would magically impart some makeup super skills. I discovered my best yet option in Soap and Glory’s Supercat. Designed like a felt tip pen it’s super easy to use, long lasting and a really great deep, dark black. Oh, and a bargain too by the way. As you can see by the slightly well worn look of mine in the shot below, I do practice with it on a regular basis but still haven’t cracked the simplest of line looks.

But none of that stops me from virtually indulging in dreamy eyelined looks, imagining them amazingly accurately transferred on to my face. I am seeking professional help for my obsession, hoping that a patient makeup artist might share the secrets of the perfect set of flicks with me. In the mean time, I wanted to share with you some of my absolute favourite looks on my Beauty board. All are fantastic, but some are pure catwalk fantasy. All are black- lets not even get started on all of the wonderful colourful looks…

“Blink” Beauty: Wilderness’15 Sparkles!

Thursday, August 13th, 2015

Here’s the first drop of our coverage from the wonder that is Wilderness festival. What a fabulous sunshiney time we had. Thanks to all of you who stopped your revelry for a moment so that Chloe could take your picture. You all look AMAZING!

Each year we’ve been to Wilderness we notice a slight change in the main looks being rocked, as well as the makeup and accessory choices adorning those looks. We know it’s pretty much going to be a variation on a shiny, happy, flower-crowned, sparkle-fest which is always good with us. The slight change this time as far as festival faces were concerned was that those sparkles were bigger, bolder and a bit nuttier than ever. It’s an opportunity to absolutely turn your back on what’s news in carefully crafted, but ever so boring contouring and strobing, and instead go full on for fabulous colour, stencils, twinkles and stick ons!

“Blink” Stylish Steals: & Other Stories, Beauty

Monday, October 13th, 2014

It’s about time we treated you to another ‘Stylish Steals’ post, and this is one that we have spend many hours and few quid investigating thoroughly for you. Believe me, it’s been our pleasure! This is all about the fabulous beauty products from & Other Stories. I will kick things off by sharing a pic of my own stash with you, backing up this recommendation with the fact that in the short time since this brand landed, it has now pretty much taken over my make-up bag.

My personal stash of & Other Stories makeup

Not only are these products a fabulous price, they are also incredibly high quality. The colours are all highly pigmented meaning that a little goes a long way. The formulations are innovative and easy to apply, feel great on the skin and wear well. I had so many compliments when I started using their ‘Kick Pleat Red’ cheek and lip tint that several girlfriends immediately bought into the same product.

The array of colours, finishes and product types is very impressive and constantly being updated. The in-store staff encourage you to try, giving you expert advice which I personally found invaluable, especially when stepping into the new and slightly scary world of eyebrow powders. At these prices you can buy that new, slightly bonkers nail polish colour without thinking about it too much. It is both playful and brilliantly chic. The perfect combo deal for any make up brand we think.

We spotted some scented candles on our last visit into the Regent Street branch and I can’t wait to get a few of those home. Just to test them for you, obviously! For more beauty posts, take a look here. If you’re into reading about more Stylish Steals, then this is the place for you to click.
