Thursday night was made exceptionally special through the combination of one of our favorite London locations, Somerset House, with one of our longest standing favorite style icons and performers, Grace Jones.
When “Blink”s founder was but a mere girl contemplating what style meant, Grace Jones came along and showed that individuality, drama, androgyny and form were all far more exciting than pretty, obvious and uniform. She created a new take on sexy that has stood the test of time and believe me, she is still incredibly sexy. Strutting her stuff in a basque and thong at the fabulous age of ’60 something’.
Each new song was delivered in a new head piece and jacket combination, layered over the basque. The amazing millinery masterpieces, created by Philip Treacy, brought additional theatre and edge to a brilliant performance. The ‘piece de resistance’ was her rendition of “Slave to the Rhythm” whilst hula hooping throughout. Fantastic!
