“Blink” Music: London Grammar ‘Wasting My Young Years’

We absolutely cannot get enough of this wonderful track from London Grammar. We predict huge things for these guys as they hit the festival circuit hard this summer, playing their cinematic, sound-scape style arty pop to the crowds at some of the biggest events including Bestival, Glasto and Secret Garden Party.

This track came out yesterday so you can buy it now!

Blink Events: Secret Garden Party, Part 3

Its been a while since we had anything worth posting under the category of ‘Friday Fun’. Sorry about that. Well, we hope to make amends with this fabulously fluffy selection of shots to round up our Secret Garden Party reviews for this year. These festival goers seemed to have decided that SGP was the opportunity for them to embrace their inner animal. Who knew that Tony the Tiger would become a style icon? Well, all we can say is that we think they all look gggrrrreat!

Thanks again to the wonderful Victoria for the images. Thanks also to all of you who struck a pose for her. Until next year!

Blink Events: Secret Garden Party, Part 2 aka ‘Mad Hatters’

More great shots from Secret Garden Party. We hope that you enjoyed yesterdays post. Its not really the kind of fest where we can then look at the shots and analyze the trends (phew, no denim cuts offs and Hunter welly combos here), but never the less we have pulled together some common threads for you. This post celebrates the most wonderful selection of headgear that we have seen since the Royal Wedding. Hats were the accessory du jour, and there were some great scarf looks too. What better way to work with your Day 3 festival hair?

Blink Events: Secret Garden Party, Part 1

We’re knee deep into festival season and last weekend saw the most fantastic of them all take place. When I say fantastic, I mean it in the truest sense of the word. Secret Garden Party is all about escapism, an alternative reality, a fantasy festival when your imagination can really let its hair down. The theme this year was ‘Origins and Frontiers’, but as you’ll see from the shots this was by no means the only direction to take when it came to wardrobe choices. Yes, when you want to dress fancy for SGP, you really, truly do go for fancy dress.

The line up was pretty much as eclectic as the attendees sartorial tastes, but we were really excited to see Benjamin Francis Leftwich on the line up (a new “Blink” fav) as well as I am Kloot, Blondie, Leftfield and Toddla T who is our current hangover cure…

So to set the scene we decided that this first post on SGP should feature the most fantastical of those that we shot. We salute all the SGP attendees who put so much time, energy and thought into their looks. I have no idea how you all managed to do it, but I’m very glad that you did! Thanks to Victoria for the ace shots. Great work from the newest member of the “Blink” family.

Events- Secret Garden Party part 3: Black and Gold

Its double bubble today on the “Blink” blog. Two posts in one day! That’s going some, but we have so much festi joy to share with you this week, it’s the only way to go…

So, last but not least from Secret Garden Party we have a few final looks to share with you. We’ve called this ‘Black and Gold’ in reference to the common colour theme from this eclectic selection of shots. Two are tied by animal print. The other shows how stunningly scaled accessories can make a look. So, that’s it from us for Secret Garden Party 2010. Already looking forward to next years event!

Events- Secret Garden Party part 2: So festi, so nice

So, after setting the scene with yesterdays post, today we have some great Secret Garden Party style shots split into two posts- bit size chunks of fashion joy! From the theatrical yesterday to some slightly less ‘dress up’ looks today. They sum up this festivals mood of cool abandon, something a little off centre and more eclectic. Bright pattern, retro feel graphics, the ubiquitous denim shorts, maxi’s, minis and playsuits. Fill your boots and enjoy!

Events- Secret Garden Party, The Secret’s Out!

We have been keeping Cat very busy having fun. On Thursday 22nd July she headed off on a secret mision for us. Her challenge was to track down the Secret Garden Party. Its an independent , not for profit event and has no sponsorship (and little advertising – even the locals don’t know about it!) started in 2004 by four friends. Secret Garden Party has bloomed in size and popularity becoming one of the ‘must attend’ festivals for those in the know.

The event is held in the Cambridgeshire countryside, set in the sublime grounds of a Georgian farmhouse near Huntingdon, in a 10 acre landscaped garden, perfectly placed for maximum beauty bordering a river and lake.

Some of the better prepared attendees had donned gorgeous swimsuits teamed with cut off jeans and boots, making it easy to strip off for a quick dip from the floating dance floor and into the swimming lake. If you didn’t feel like jumping straight in, you could still enjoy the water by heading off in one of the rowing boats.

Themed as ‘Fact or Fiction’ SGP was brimming with eclectic creativity in the sunny Summer weather. Culinary delights matched the visual feast; bands playing suspended in the trees, bales of hay made ad hoc seating areas whilst a 19th century steam powered traction engine served drinks from its carriages and served as a mobile disco. The style of the attendees was just as eclectic and inspiration from every decade were evident in decadent vintage outfits from flowing 70’s floral dresses to kittenish 50’s swimsuits and 1920’s elegance.

Gorillaz Sound System headlined with an impressive visual display, plus Mercury Rev, ska legends the Skatalites, Goldheart Assembly, Darwin DeezExample, Goldierocks, and many more. The stunning Marina & The Diamonds got the crowd singing early into the first night and I Blame Coco drew a stylish crowd too. Fireworks and Chinese lanterns added extra sparkle and Saturday night was lit up with the ceremonial burning of the floating dance floor.

This is our first of three post from this event, and we decided to start with some looks that embrace the more theatrical and eccentric looks from this festival. Enjoy!
