Blink 'Soft Woven' design work, April'14

Here’s a sneak peek at what our clients will be seeing as part of the ‘Soft Wovens’ new issue which will be winging its way around the globe in the next couple of days (with any luck and a following wind!). We added original design work to each of our product reports a little while back and this really has proven to be a hit with our subscribers, as well as with me. After researching and gathering information for weeks it is a wonderful thing to able to creatively express all of that in these designs. Also, I don’t ever need too much encouragement to get my pencil and pens out to get sketching!

If you like the look of these and would like to learn more about our reports, why not contact your nearest agent? We look forward to working with you.

“Blink” Reports: May’13 Soft Woven Design Inspiration

Thursday, May 2nd, 2013

We hope that you liked our knitwear design inspiration. Next is an insight into the original design work that can be found in our Soft Wovens report. If you’re not familiar with that term, ‘soft wovens’ are essentially formal or dressy styles in woven materials that are softly structured, but not as constructed as tailoring would be. So now you know!

We are constantly working on upgrading and improving our reports. The most recent upgrade has been the addition of original design work in the Soft Wovens, Jersey, Denim and Knit reports. We feature three inspirational fashion drawings and four ‘flats’, encapsulating the key silhouettes for each month.

Here are the designs from the June’12 ‘Soft Wovens’ report, and the others will follow in the next few posts.

“Blink” reports- ‘Soft Wovens’

Thursday, November 3rd, 2011

Today we welcome you to the wonderful world of ‘Soft Wovens’. This is an increasingly important category, playing host to most of this season’s hottest styles. This has been the story since around this time last year when we saw a surge in interest in soft, light weight, diaphanous maxi’s, the pussy bow blouse and 70’s inspired evening jumpsuits. This Autumn Winter this category plays host to all of the brilliant midi skirts, from full and swishy to hobbling pencils. This is also where you find all of the brilliant shirt variations, translated into silky base cloths and worked in colour blocked beauty. Want to know what has happened to the perfect T shirt? Well, it’s now to be found in the ‘Soft Wovens’ department, made of a refined woven base cloth instead of jersey.

So, from that summary, we’re sure that you are either, as a retailer, dedicating lots of creativity and floor space to this section of your range, and as a shopper, we’re pretty confident that you are buying into this department on a regular basis. It’s an easy report to fill every month at the moment, with a constant influx of inspirational creativity hitting the high street. Have a look at a few of the pages from the last report that we published, but please do note that these are just the tip of the report iceberg as there were over 45 pages in this report in total, all packed with fantastic product shots, colour palettes, streetstyle and even a little vintage.

If you’d like to see more on this report, or the others in our offer, why not sneak a peek at the full portfolio by clicking here, or contact us or your nearest agent to see the whole of each report in their impressive printed form. Blink Travels: Copenhagen Fashion Week, the shows- Part 2

Wednesday, August 10th, 2011

We hope that you enjoyed yesterday’s post. Here’s some more inspirational show shots for you from Copenhagen Fashion Week, where the designers were showcasing their Spring Summer 2012 collections. These images are from the ‘CPH Visions + terminal II‘ showcase where the best contemporary womenswear brands focusing on Scandinavian design, feminine fashion and up-and-coming designers are shown as a group. The venue was a stunning building within Copenhagen’s historical ‘meatpacking’ district, Øksnehallen. Amongst those showing was Nuit Comme Oui, who we featured previously on the blog in one of our interviews. Just click here if you’d like to read it.

Streetstyle: Maxed Out

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2011

We’ve been spotting some lovely maxi looks over the past couple of weeks, and decided to share some of our favourite streetsyle shots with you today. Its a direction that has become a bit of a high summer classic, but we can see some innovation in here too. The move from the maxi dress to the importance of the maxi skirt has been one well documented in all the fashion mags from the start of Spring. Building on that direction, we also love the amazing concertina pleated ‘divided skirt’ or mega flares from Topshop. Midi gets a look in too, but the reality of the streetsyle shows that it still has some way to go before it replaces the long time love that is the maxi…

The Reports: April’11 Soft Wovens

Friday, April 15th, 2011

Its Friday, so we thought we’d treat you to two reports today. Consider it our gift to you, to say ‘Have an inspirational Friday!’

So, the penultimate in our week’s worth of showcasing the “Blink” reports is ‘Soft Wovens’. Its one of the more recent additions to the monthly portfolio of reports and its doing very well.

If you’re not familiar with this category of product, ‘Soft Wovens’ is a fashion industry term for wovens that are lighter and finer, less structured or constructed than tailored pieces. Its a growing and diversifying area of the market, and probably the most fashion topical for the past couple of seasons. Do have a look at the gallery below. This is just the tip of the iceberg as far as this report goes. After these few introductory pages there are up to 35 more which are packed with great detailed product shots. Enjoy!

Streetstyle: Subtle Ecclectic

Thursday, February 3rd, 2011

There’s no other way to really attribute a label to this look, other than its utterly personal while still looking very fashion relevant. There are elements that are straight from the top ten of seasonal ‘must haves’, like her soft shirt worked as a dress, the shorter proportion of the T over the top and that laddered knit cardigan, but its the combination of textiles, proportions and the overall silhouette- plus those red lips coordinating with those boots- that just turns it into something very special.

The Reports- January ’11 Soft Wovens

Tuesday, January 25th, 2011

So, the next in our week’s worth of showcasing the “Blink” reports is our ‘Soft Wovens’ report. Its the most recent addition to the monthly portfolio and its doing very well. We spotted that there was a whole, very topical and directional section of the fashion scene that we just weren’t reporting on clearly enough so we decided that the addition of the ‘Soft Wovens’ report would really round out our offer.

If you’re not familiar with this category of product, ‘Soft Wovens’ is a fashion industry term for wovens that are lighter and finer, less structured or constructed than tailored pieces. They are more delicate and more formal than the styles that would be featured in the ‘Denim +’ report and do have a more occassionwear bent, but are not exclusively for ‘posh’. Have I sufficiently cleared that up for you? Hope so! Actually, perhaps I should just leave it to the report itself to explain what its all about. Do have a peruse of the gallery below. This is just the tip of the iceberg as far as this report goes. After these few introductory pages there are up to 35 more which are packed with great detailed product shots.

Enjoy!
