“Blink” New Designers: Stine Riis, SS’13 at CFW

Following on from that earlier post, we are having a Stine Riis afternoon to round off our first week of Copenhagen Fashion Week coverage. Here are some shots from Stine’s SS’13 show. She has further developed her refined, modern aesthetic taking the concepts from the AW’12 collection in a slightly softer, sportier direction. We really love Stine’s signature textile combinations and clever colour use.

Congratulations Stine and we look forward to seeing your label going from strength to strength.

“Blink” New Designers: Stine Riis with H&M

We were really lucky to be invited to Copenhagen Fashion Week. Many thanks to Gregersen Communication and CFW. Also, additional huge thanks to Stine Riis. You may have read some of our previous posts about Stine. I had the pleasure of mentoring Stine just before she graduated. Her stunning final collection not only won a prize when it was shown at LCF‘s graduate show, but Stine went on to win the first ever H&M Design Award.

The H&M prize was a huge boost to Stine’s start as a designer presenting her own label, with key pieces from the winning collection launching in selected H&M stores exclusively in the UK during London Fashion Week on 17th September. The collection will then be available from 20th September in selected H&M stores in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. A selection of garments will also be available online.

Stine has been working with the H&M design team to develop chosen pieces from the collection, including a wool skirt and jacket with patent leather panels, a winter coat with strong shoulder details, a silk and patent leather blouse with a transparent back, and a knitted jumper with leather detailing.

“I can’t wait to see the collection at H&M! I want to see women wearing my designs and adapting them to suit their own style. Developing the collection with H&M has been a great learning experience, and their support has been so important to me. Key pieces from the collection are the jackets and the coat, as well as the skirt with leather panels” says Stine Riis, designer.

I cannot wait to be able to buy Stine’s collection. Well, done, and well deserved! We have some coverage from Stine’s SS’13 show at Copenhagen Fashion Week dropping a little later today too, so watch out.

Graduate Fashion Week: London College of Fashion, BA Graduates Show

Here we are at the final post featuring last Tuesday’s London College of Fashion BA Graduate show, featuring the work of 25 designers selected from the womenswear, menswear and surface textiles degree courses. Today there are only a couple of images that we wanted to feature. I’m sure that’s probably a relief after so many image heavy posts over the past few days!

So, here we are with the show finale and the awards presentation. Firstly came the award sponsored by Barnett Lawson for ‘Best Use of Trimmings’. This was won by Charlotte Barry, and deservedly so. her collection was stunning in its balance between subtlety and sophistication while also being incredibly decorative and textural. Charlotte didn’t come forward to have her photo taken so instead we’ve swiped an image from her online portfolio.

Next was the Biddle Sawyer Silks award for ‘Innovative Use of Textiles’ and this was won by Stine Riis. This was a particularly proud moment for our Creative Director who was recently mentoring Stine. The collection was absolutely beautiful, although it was amongst the collections that featured real fur (sponsored by Saga who work with incredibly high ethical standards). See more about Stine’s winning collection here.

Finally there was the award for the ‘Collection of the Year’, and we didn’t know which way this was going to go. There were so many exciting and innovative collections to choose from, all of which had been incredibly beautifully realized. We certainly didn’t envy the judges their job! The award went to Wun Wun Nova Chiu for her colourful, textural and energetic collection that was inspired by undiscovered Chinese cultures blended with architectural references, titled ‘Shangri-Ladida’. Read more of her inspiration behind this gorgeous collection here.

So, day 3 and we still have loads of great LCF BA graduate show coverage for you. At this point I guess it would be wise to add a disclaimer: If we have mis-named any of the shows I am incredibly sorry. Just let me know who, what, where and we’ll amend it ASAP!
