“Blink” Retail: Heidi Klein x Selfridges, just for you

Heidi Klein has teamed up with wonderfully creative embroiderer Laura Lees to offer Selfridges shoppers the chance to personalize their HK product in a very luxurious way. You can have your initials embroidered in gold thread on swimwear and accessory purchases this Friday 15th and Saturday 16th of May from 12-8pm both days.

Heidi Klein x Laura Lees x Selfridges personalization service

We wanted to offer the Selfridges shopper something personal this summer.  Having your initials sewn on to your bikini or espadrilles by Laura Lees is a luxurious touch we hope shoppers will enjoy. It’s great for gifting and our new girls collection,” says co-founder Penny Klein.

I wonder if I can twist Laura’s arm and have her embroider “Blink” on a bikini for me? For more retail news, just look here.

“Blink” Retail: Heidi Klein Pre-Resort

When you live the rather fabulous life that Heidi Klein caters for, you not only need a ‘Resort’ collection for those Winter sun escapes, but you also need a ‘pre-Resort’ collection for your pre-holiday holiday. With swimwear and chic beach dressing like this, why wouldn’t you take every opportunity to show it off? Here are some of our favourite looks from this offer that dropped on the 15th October.

This first look is named ‘Bimini’ after the island in the Bahamas. Clean lines and linear shapes look understatedly fabulous in minky neutral and black.

If you love a more classic French Riviera style look, then take a look at the lovely Corelli collection, blending a fine navy and white stripe on a textural base, detailed with a rope style trim. The team have created this super soft, slub jersey tee shirt dress style cover up, which I think is possibly one of the most flexible styles in their collection.

“Blink” Retail: Queen Kamali gets even more Active

If you read my post about Surviving LFW by escaping to The Savoy for some calm, quiet time, you will have spotted that when advising you to try The Savoy’s pool I suggested donning a Norma Kamali swimsuit for the occasion. Well, I figured that 1) you’re a fashion conscious individual, 2) you are rather sophisticated and 3) that you appreciate timeless yet brilliant design if you’re someone who would appreciate the joys that The Savoy has to offer.

I design a couple of swimwear collections as part of our consultancy service, and I have to say that through my years of researching the best of the best in swimwear, Kamali is pretty much Queen. She has built a decades long career around doing marvellously innovative things with jersey. In a wonderfully fatalistic fashion moment, the same day that I posted about wearing Norma Kamali to complete your restorative lengths in style, I also came across a whole new and exciting collection of Kamali styles in Selfridges. I think this must be a recent addition as I haven’t noticed it before.

If you train, or if just like to look like you train, then this is the collection for you. Reminding me of Hot Gossip meets High Disco this collection features graphically go faster style ‘spliced’ inserts, either in mesh, high sheen or bright metallic silver and I want it ALL!!!!

And who but Norma Kamali could get away with having a maxi dress in an active collection?

Pure perfection. Do take a look in Selfridges or at Kamali’s online shop as there’s lots more to this offer including some fabulous swimwear for you to wear during your trip to The Savoy!

“Blink” Retail: Heidi Klein and every Body

Well, it’s June- not that you’d know it by looking out of the window at a drizzly and grey London. Undoubtedly the sun is shining somewhere and we’ll be heading off to find it imminently. At Blink Towers we are on hols for a week from Friday and as much as we’ve all be hitting the gym and refusing the carbs, why not embrace everything we can to help us look our absolute best whilst wearing pretty much the least that’s acceptable in public. No, I am not talking about full body lipo. I am in fact referring to the amazing ‘My Body’ range from Heidi Klein.

Yes, Heidi Gosman and Penny Klein have come to our rescue by creating a collection of swimwear styles that are almost magical (NB: please note that they don’t actually have magical powers but are just brilliantly designed and constructed). With my very own eyes I saw how these styles made a super trim and very gorgeous model look even trimmer and more gorgeous. This is shapewear made sexy. The HK team have worked hard to create a fifteen piece collection that lift, shape and contour whilst remaining flexible, comfortable and super stylish. Uh, what’s not to love about that?!?

Here are our particular favourite styles from this ‘My Body’ collection, featuring specifically tailored powermesh sections, moulded cups, additional support and well placed design features to enhance and flatter. I’ll be packing a few of these for sure.

“Blink” Retail: Escape with Heidi Klein

Hands up who needs a holiday? All the hands in Blink Towers are now pointing skywards… It’s that time of year when we all yearn to be laying down somewhere sun-baked, away from the ‘Is it? Isn’t it?’ Spring weather. Well, in mental prep for that here’s some highlights form the new Heidi Klein collection. The Spring Summer ’14 offer is inspired by a selection of desirable destinations, each bringing with it a different mood, look and detail for you to be tempted by. From Seville to Rio to Jaipur, this is a veritable global tour of glamourous swimwear and beach cover-ups.

We asked Heidi about the inspiration behind this collection, and she told us this:

“My inspiration for each collection comes from the customers themselves, what they want, what they don’t want, etc.  Our customers in the 2 stores are our best focus groups and so we always listen to them. I also take inspiration from my holidays with family and friends, and also from the gorgeous places I have yet to visit.  There are such exquisite destinations around the world, and each of us has our own favourites that we return to time after time.  I try to bring those places alive with each story in the collection.”

“Blink” retail: SS’12 Chanel

If it weren’t for the amazingly extreme styling, this tailoring could be so ‘lavender and old lace’, however, the magic fashion fairy dust of Karl Lagerfeld and his super styling team at Chanel have instead transformed it into a somewhat challenging look. The lavender tailoring is quite nice alone, but by teaming it with camellia embellished knickers, its elevated into something far more intriguing. We also love the beach appropriate, velour looking variation on the classic Chanel jacket and those stunning fingerless leather gloves. Only the ever chic house of Chanel could make this work.

“Blink” Retail: YS what the L

Here’s another window shot for you from our outing down Sloane Street earlier this week. As we tweeted, many of the high end stores seem to have skipped past Christmas completely and headed straight into Spring by showcasing their resort collections. YSL seem to have partly gone that route, with a window that combines something more Winter appropriate with something super Springy.

To us this looked like a scene from a Bond movie, with one fashionable character karate chopping the other… “Take that, Bikini girl!” Or maybe she’s trying to knock some sense into her, as she’s clearly lost her mind, wearing a beach appropriate look in December in London.

Events- Secret Garden Party, The Secret’s Out!

We have been keeping Cat very busy having fun. On Thursday 22nd July she headed off on a secret mision for us. Her challenge was to track down the Secret Garden Party. Its an independent , not for profit event and has no sponsorship (and little advertising – even the locals don’t know about it!) started in 2004 by four friends. Secret Garden Party has bloomed in size and popularity becoming one of the ‘must attend’ festivals for those in the know.

The event is held in the Cambridgeshire countryside, set in the sublime grounds of a Georgian farmhouse near Huntingdon, in a 10 acre landscaped garden, perfectly placed for maximum beauty bordering a river and lake.

Some of the better prepared attendees had donned gorgeous swimsuits teamed with cut off jeans and boots, making it easy to strip off for a quick dip from the floating dance floor and into the swimming lake. If you didn’t feel like jumping straight in, you could still enjoy the water by heading off in one of the rowing boats.

Themed as ‘Fact or Fiction’ SGP was brimming with eclectic creativity in the sunny Summer weather. Culinary delights matched the visual feast; bands playing suspended in the trees, bales of hay made ad hoc seating areas whilst a 19th century steam powered traction engine served drinks from its carriages and served as a mobile disco. The style of the attendees was just as eclectic and inspiration from every decade were evident in decadent vintage outfits from flowing 70’s floral dresses to kittenish 50’s swimsuits and 1920’s elegance.

Gorillaz Sound System headlined with an impressive visual display, plus Mercury Rev, ska legends the Skatalites, Goldheart Assembly, Darwin DeezExample, Goldierocks, and many more. The stunning Marina & The Diamonds got the crowd singing early into the first night and I Blame Coco drew a stylish crowd too. Fireworks and Chinese lanterns added extra sparkle and Saturday night was lit up with the ceremonial burning of the floating dance floor.

This is our first of three post from this event, and we decided to start with some looks that embrace the more theatrical and eccentric looks from this festival. Enjoy!
