“Blink” Music: Hozier, ‘Someone New’

This will make your Monday even better than it is already (it’s great already though right?). We do love ourselves a bit of Hozier. Gutted to have missed his set at Wilderness last year (we were in the spa hot tubs… oops) but hoping to catch him live this year.

A little more about the artist himself, Andrew Hozier-Byrne is an Irish singer/ songwriter from a musical family. He released his first album last year and we love ever single track on it. His biggest hit so far, ‘Take me To Church’, still sounds as fresh now as when it was released last year. I think the secret to this is his absolute grounding in a bluesy, heartfelt and soulful musicality that feels absolutely timeless.

Not only is this track, ‘Someone New’ epic from an aural perspective, the accompanying video is pretty darn hot too. If you’re a Game of Thrones or Elementary fan, you’ll recognise the leading lady.

“Blink” Music: London Grammar, Wilderness’14

Today’s #MusicMonday is dedicated to last night’s stellar Wilderness festival headline performance from London Grammar. We all hung on in there through the rain and thunder storms to witness them close the festival in style. Well, the wait wasn’t so bad as it featured Chet Faker, Sam Smith and Jessie Ware so please don’t feel at all sorry for us!

Haunting, spine tingling and utterly beautiful, enhanced by the light of the full moon shining down from behind those rain clouds, London Grammar were a quite wonderful end to this epic festival weekend. Thank you Wilderness.

“Blink” Music: For the Love of Burt and Wilderness

Today’s #MusicMonday is a little different to the usual tracks we pick to share with you. Today’s is the next step in our build up to Wilderness festival which kicks off on Friday. This year’s headline act is the legendary Burt Bacharach, and Wilderness has teamed up with Mahogany Sessions to create a series of videos set in the stunning Cornbury Park festival location, each one featuring a different artist or group with their version of a BB classic.

Here we have videos from We Were Evergreen (a Blink fav) and Sivu

Whoop whoop. WE CANNOT WAIT!!!!! For more Wilderness news, check out their website. For more events news, look here, and for more music, then just click here.

“Blink” Music: Jessie Ware ‘Tough Love’

I’m not sure if my choice for today’s Music Monday track has been influenced by my newly single status (must I really face Tinder AGAIN!?!) but aside from helping me through by being an ace song to yell along too at high volume (sorry neighbours), it’s also just a thoroughly gorgeous, multi-layered, deeply infectious and pretty much perfect track.

We’re long term Jessie Ware fans here at Blink Towers, yet with every new release we are freshly reminded of the beauty of her voice. ‘Tough Love’ is liltingly romantic yet still strong with a bold beat blended with a tad of 90’s syth pop. I am super excited that she’s playing at Wilderness as I haven’t yet seen her live. Hopefully I’ll be over my heartbreak by then and won’t be tempted to dash on stage and wail when she sings this particular song. Just jokes, probably…

This track is released on August 3rd. For more of our musical posts, just have a look here.
