Shortly after his graduation from LCF, we featured Giovanni Martins‘ fabulous fashion film, ‘Manifesto’. Click here to see that post, and click here to see another featuring some of his photography. In this post we are delighted to share with you his next major fashion film called ‘Gwenllian’, exclusively for Emma Griffiths.
‘In this film i wanted to explore more of the details and graphical aspect of Emma Griffiths’ collection, consisting of double layered silk dresses and laser cut leather applications. The film is a journey into her collection, and travels between female sensuality, usage of fabric and intricate handwork.’
E.G EMMA GRIFFITHS is a luxury fashion label with Welsh roots. Griffiths has taken elements of her ancestry to create a collection that reflect the traditions of love in Welsh History. For centuries the Celtic Welsh knot of the Love Spoon has been a Welsh expression of love. The men would carve the love spoon into never-ending patterns as a symbol of his love for her. The different patterns would hold meanings for each woman; the pattern used in this collection is symbolic of the strength of love. The E.G signature leggings carry warrior undertones of sculptured leather paneling, and taut lacing. The 18ct gold plated shields that adorn the leather breast plates and leggings, were designed in collaboration with world renowned Fine Jeweler Gisele Ganne.
Upon graduation from Westminster University, Griffiths continued her training with world renowned designer Alexander McQueen, and Zowie Brooch of Boudicca. Emma’s individual work has gained coverage by Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, and Drapers amongst many.
