“Blink” Events: House of Hackney SS’15 at The Communications Store’s SS’15 Press Day

The first time that I walked into the House of Hackney shop, I nearly fainted from an overwhelming sense of joy. Okay, that may be a slight overstatement but there was definitely a minute where I couldn’t catch my breath (you can read more about that first visit here). If you haven’t been in then get yourself to Shoreditch High Street and prepare yourself for a highly patterned, highly fabulous retail experience.

The shot here is of a mini version of the House of Hackney experience via The Communications Store‘s press day. The SS’15 collection was displayed along with a couple of their interiors pieces, just to help set the scene.

The new collection features some brilliant new print designs shown as standalone statements as well as in some wonderful combinations. From skins to florals and botanical inspired leaves, the scale and colourways are as bold and vivid as we have come to expect and love from this genius British brand.

To top it all off, and to pull the whole mood together were these stunningly 70’s platforms. Get buckled up on to my feet now you beauties.

Blink Retail: Go Swedish

We are very excited about this next H&M designer hook up. Actually, it may not be the highest profile but it seems the most fitting- and more exciting for it. Launching on 20th April, H&M will be going back to its Swedish roots and offering three wooden soled, ultra stylish clog style shoes from the cult shoe label Swedish Hasbeens. These will be exclusively made for H&M, and will incorporate the handcrafted methods and eco smart materials Swedish Hasbeens are known for.

Its so great to see a Swedish giant supporting a fellow Swedish brand, as well as getting behind a traditional Swedish style- that also just happens to work perfectly with the hot 70’s mood that’s forefront on the trends list this Spring Summer. Swedish Hasbeens eco credentials also work really well with the efforts that H&M make to be a more sustainable and responsible fashion brand. All round, we think that this is a very good look!

“I love the genuine feeling you get from Hasbeens, from the wood and the leather, and also how they take something traditional and Swedish and make it contemporary and modern. These Hasbeens for H&M fit perfectly with the ’70s bohemian look that’s so important this coming season,” says Ann-Sofie Johansson, H&M’s head of design.

“We believe very strongly in making better shoes for a better world. We want to make fashion more fun, creative and friendly to both the environment and people. And we have loved designing for H&M! It’s a fantastic opportunity to spread the idea of Hasbeens and make these shoes available to more people around the globe,” says Emy Blixt, founder and designer of Swedish Hasbeens.

We are huge fans of Swedish Hasbeens and cannot wait to be clip clopping about in a pair of these super cute clogs. The only challenge is which to choose… Well, maybe at H&M prices, you can justify not choosing but deciding that all three styles are essential! Enjoy!
